The 2026 Newport Beach Jazz Festival is shaping up to be one of Southern California’s biggest celebrations of smooth jazz, soul, and contemporary R&B. Marking its 30th anniversary, the beloved coastal music tradition returns May 29–31 at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, where thousands of music fans will gather for a weekend of legendary performances, waterfront views, and laid-back luxury.

Since launching in 1996, the festival has grown into one of Orange County’s longest-running jazz events, blending world-class musicianship with the relaxed atmosphere of Newport Beach. Over the years, the festival has hosted icons and crossover stars spanning jazz, funk, soul, and adult contemporary music, earning a reputation for lineups that appeal to longtime jazz lovers and newer audiences alike.

This year’s anniversary edition features a stacked lineup headlined by soul powerhouse Ledisi, jazz-funk bass legend Marcus Miller, R&B icons The Isley Brothers, and acclaimed trumpeter Rick Braun. Festival organizers are leaning heavily into the celebratory spirit of the 30th anniversary, bringing together both returning favorites and standout contemporary performers. Saturday’s lineup is expected to deliver a blend of smooth jazz, Latin grooves, and soulful vocals with performances from Avery*Sunshine, Poncho Sanchez, Nicholas Cole, and Julian Vaughn. Sunday continues the momentum with appearances by Damien Escobar, Rahsaan Patterson, Kim Waters, Kayla Waters, and Sy Smith.

Beyond the music, the festival experience has become a major draw in itself. Attendees can enjoy multiple stages, gourmet food vendors, cocktail lounges, artisan shopping, and panoramic Back Bay views throughout the resort grounds. Organizers have also expanded hospitality offerings for the anniversary year, with VIP packages and onsite accommodations seeing especially high demand.

Part of what continues to make the Newport Beach Jazz Festival special is its ability to bridge generations of music fans. The event honors traditional jazz roots while embracing soul, funk, and crossover contemporary artists who keep the genre evolving. Previous editions have welcomed artists including Babyface, Boney James, Brian Culbertson, and KEM, helping the festival maintain its broad appeal across decades.

As the festival celebrates three decades in Newport Beach, organizers say the focus remains the same: great music, unforgettable performances, and a weekend atmosphere that captures the energy and elegance of coastal California. With a milestone anniversary lineup and strong ticket demand already underway, the 2026 edition is expected to be one of the festival’s most memorable years yet.
